The inaugural Willgoss Choral Composition Prize was awarded earlier this year to outstanding choral composer Matthew Orlovich, for his work Sonnet, to the comet of 1825. The work will be given its premiere performance at the evening recital of the Burgundian Consort on Wednesday September 20 at 7.30pm in UNSW's Sir John Clancy Auditorium.

Such has been the success of the Willgoss Choral Composition Prize and quality of submissions in 2017, and such is the generosity of the supporters of the prize, Richard and Sue Willgoss, that the Music Performance Unit of UNSW is pleased to announce that the $3000 Prize will be on offer for a second year, with the addition of a $1000 Highly Commended prize.

Applications open on July 17, closing on January 31, 2018. Please check the website for Conditions of Entry and application details.

The Music Performance Unit of UNSW thanks Richard and Sue Willgoss for their continued support and lasting contribution to Australian choral music.
