The Villiers String Quartet, quartet in residence at the University of Oxford, have embarked on their third New Works Competition, a program for composers from all over the world to submit new string quartet works in a competitive format.

Our very own Ian Munro has made it through to the semifinal round with his first string quartet, 'from an exhibition of Australian woodcuts' of which the third movement Tarantella on a Sydney Tram can be heard on the competition website. His work is up against those from composers from across the world - he is the lone representative of Australia.
