Update -Term 2 MPU Ensembles

DSC_1270-1

Dear MPU Ensemble members,

MPU ensembles will not resume in time for the start of Term 2 due to the restrictions put in place for COVID-19. We are disappointed that we are not delivering better news in this uncertain time, however the safety of our members is paramount.

What does this mean for you?

SAM Students

MPU ensembles will not be an assessable option in Term 2.
For students that were planning to take the MPU ensembles as a performance subject through SAM in T2, please follow up with John Napier to discuss alternate options as soon as possible or head to Moodle for further information.

Other Community Members

Although we can’t yet convene face-to-face, we are looking at possibilities for T2 activities online, and look forward to engaging with members in real time if not in person very soon.
In the meantime, Sonia is preparing some activities online for Burgundians and will facilitate some online convening opportunities for Collegium Musicum Choir members during Term 2. SOAP is also engaging with members through their channels so be sure to reach out to your society representatives and get involved where you can from home.
In the middle of June, we hope to circulate another update on the possibility of rehearsals recommencing and will keep you abreast of any news as it arises.

I have paid for an Ensemble fee for Term 2 already – will I get a refund?

Refunds will be administered by the end of June, 2020. We are waiting until the middle of June to see when ensembles will likely recommence. If the ensembles resume mid-June, you will not have to pay anything further to join the ensemble in Term 2.
If the ensembles do not resume mid-term, then we will contact you and issue you your refund for Term 2.
If you have decided that you no longer wish to partake in one of our activities, a refund will be made to you by the end of June.
We will contact everyone in June to discuss their options. Please note, you do not need to do anything at this stage.

What should I do in the meantime to get my music fix?

Why not jump online and connect with us via our social media channels. The MPU is working on a range of video materials to keep your days interesting and connected to music. Let us support you online with interesting content as we help keep music a central part of everyone’s lives during these unusual times. Questions?

Should you have any questions regarding the above, please email cmc@unsw.edu.au or if it is related to you academic commitments for Term 1 or 2, please email John Napier j.napier@unsw.edu.au

Best wishes,
