Winner of UNSW's 2024 Concerto Auditions Announced!

Music Performance UNSW is delighted to announce Celine Kang as the winner of UNSW's 2024 Concerto Auditions, for her performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3.

The Music Performance Unit annually holds Concerto auditions, offering students an opportunity to be showcased in concert, accompanied by UNSW Orchestra. The winning performance is selected based on artistic and performance proficiency, repertoire choice and the orchestration of their chosen concerto.

Celine is a student in UNSW School of Arts and Media, studying a double degree in Bachelor of Music (Hons) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (Hons).

Celine expressed, "I am thrilled and grateful to have emerged as the winner of the 2024 UNSW Concerto Competition and eagerly await the opportunity to perform one of my favourite pieces of all-time, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3."

 

About Celine

Celine Kang is a distinguished musician, pianist, oboist, and educator whose talent and dedication have earned her acclaim both nationally and internationally. She is currently pursuing her double degrees of Bachelor of Music (Honours) / Bachelor of Secondary Education (Honours) at UNSW with the UNSW Music Scholarship and Richard and Isolda Munz Scholarship. Celine is also an advanced entry recipient, Dean’s list student and also has been the Student Representative for the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture and Student Ambassador.

Celine has won many competitions internationally, including the Absolute Platinum Winner’s award in The Canada International Music Competition and the New York International Music Competition and Festival. Her victories invited her to perform in prestigious halls such as the Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Vienna and Sydney Opera House. She has also won in competitions within Australia such as the Sydney Eisteddfod, Ryde Eisteddfod, Australian National Eisteddfod, and Wollongong Eisteddfod.

Her passion for music extends to her role as an educator, where she imparts her expertise to students at her alma mater, MLC School and other institutions such as The King’s School, Meriden School and GNT Academy.



Celine will perform with UNSW Orchestra on Friday 15 November 2024, at Sir John Clancy Auditorium. More details to follow closer to the event.
