Willgoss Choral & Instrumental Prizes

The Willgoss Choral Prizes were established in 2016, and the Willgoss Instrumental Prizes two years later, to award $1000 the best student musician in each of the Music Performance Unit’s four community ensembles – Corde, Collegium Musicum Choir, UNSW Wind Symphony and UNSW Orchestra.

Layton Emerging Composer Fellowship

The Australia Ensemble UNSW aims to foster greater engagement in and recognition of composition and chamber music activities at UNSW. Support from Emeritus Professor Roger Layton AM (pictured above) and Merrilyn Layton has facilitated a UNSW composition fellowship to again be offered valued at $10,000 for one year, for an Emerging Composer to write chamber music works as part of the Australia Ensemble’s artistic development program.

Willgoss Choral Composition Prize

The Willgoss Choral Composition Prize is aimed at encouraging and promoting the creation of an original work for unaccompanied choir, in support of a thriving choral program at UNSW Australia as represented by the Music Performance Unit.
