In 2026, we are offering the opportunity for instrumental solists to audition for a chance to perform with the UNSW Orchestra in Term 2 or 3. The winner will need to ensure their availability for the performance on a date as programmed by the Music Performance Unit.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a current UNSW student.
Video auditions will not be accepted.

Selection

The winner will be selected based on performance quality, and appropriateness and difficulty of repertoire. The final decision will rest with UNSW Music Performance Unit. The Music Performance Unit reserves the right to not appoint a winner should the level of candidates be deemed not appropriate.

Audition

Auditions will be held Friday 27 March 2026 between 10am and 4pm in room G14 of the Robert Webster Building.

Auditionees must register via Eventbrite as soon as possible to secure a time, as audition times are limited.

For the audition, two contrasting movements from a concerto should be prepared by candidates, unaccompanied.

Please check the orchestration for your chosen concerto. Due to space and budgeting limitations the maximum performable instrumentation for 2026 is*3222-4231-T+3-str.
